My name is Karen Pratt, and I was born and bred in Fleetwood—a town that has shaped who I am and the values I hold. I am married with two grown-up sons, and we have always chosen to live, work, and build our lives here.
My husband was the last marine engineer at Robertson’s on Fleetwood Dock, and both of our boys attended local primary schools before going on to successful apprenticeships with employers connected to the town. Fleetwood isn’t just where I live; it’s the community that raised my family.
I currently work as the Pastoral Manager in a local primary school, a role that places me at the heart of family life in Fleetwood. I am trusted by parents, children, colleagues, and partner agencies, and I am used to listening carefully, advocating sensitively, and working collaboratively to find practical, compassionate solutions. My guiding principle has always been simple: if it’s not good enough for my own children, then it’s not good enough for anyone else’s.
Having lived and worked in Fleetwood in a variety of roles over many years, I bring long-standing relationships, deep local knowledge, and a genuine pride in our town. I understand the challenges our community faces, but I also see its strengths, resilience, and potential every single day.
I believe these experiences and values would transfer well to the Pride in Fleetwood Board. I would contribute particularly around community engagement, shaping priorities that reflect real local need, and ensuring that investment and decision‑making are grounded in the lived experiences of the people who call Fleetwood home.
My commitment is always to fairness, honesty, and doing what is right for families and the community. Fleetwood has given me so much, and I would welcome the opportunity to give something back by helping to shape its future.
Fleetwood has been awarded £20 million over the next decade as part of the UK Government’s 'Pride in Place' programme
and the Fleetwood community will decide how the money is spent to benefit our wonderful town.
PRIDE IN FLEETWOOD is supported by the UK Government, Lorraine Beavers MP for Blackpool North & Fleetwood and Wyre Council.
